Ukiyo-E – Japanese Prints

The result of a class project. We were challenged to draw characters from one culture according to different aesthetics. I decided to portray Medusa and Perseus from the Greek mythology in the spirit of the Japanese “ukiyo-e” wood prints. Both characters were drawn according to the Edo period fashion, garment patterns and weaponry, combined with Medusa’s reptile tail and hair transforming into coiling snakes, as well as Perseus with a traditional Greek warrior helmet crest.
